Traditional fiddle player, John C Grant, is one of Ayrshire’s most accomplished composers of Scottish traditional music. He has dedicated his entire adult life to a personal journey, capturing contemporary life within Ayrshire, Scotland, through the medium of traditional music.
A commitment to capture those moments in time - the people, the events and Ayrshire streets, before they are lost forever. John is also the fiddler and dance instructor with The Borland Ceilidh Band and fiddler with The Termites.
The composed music has been used for national UK television, film and orchestra.
“Paint what you see”, my Faither said… and so I did.
I painted the Ayrshire streets with music; their sunrises, sunsets, bustle and loneliness. I painted the people, some of the greatest you could ever hope to meet; their hopes, dreams, drunken proclamations and tears; and I painted all life in between. Paint what you see.
